The program is designed to reduce common barriers to cloud adoption, such as concerns about costs, data security, and the availability of appropriate training, thus empowering researchers to utilize cloud technologies confidently.

Features​

  • Access: Participants receive up to 90 days of access to a cloud account with $500 in credits to explore cloud capabilities.
  • Resources: Access to CPU/GPU virtual machines, AI and machine learning capabilities, managed Jupyter notebooks, workflow managers, compute clusters, and high-speed networking.
  • Training Resources: Includes interactive cloud-based tutorials and access to bioinformatic datasets within a secure, NIH-approved environment.
  • Self-Paced Learning: Through weekly tips, public datasets, and support from NIH cloud experts, participants can learn.
  • Budget Control: The program ensures no overspending risk, with a cap of $500 or 90 days of access, whichever is reached first.

Eligibility​

  • Open to NIH employees and contractors, NIH-affiliated researchers, and students not employed by the NIH.
  • Previous Cloud Lab users seeking experience with a different cloud service provider are also eligible.
  • Applicants do not need prior cloud experience; the program is designed for all skill levels.
