Overview
Indigo storage spaces can be accessed on Clemson University's high-performance computing (HPC) system, called the Palmetto Cluster.
Performance
A major advantage of using Indigo storage on Palmetto is the difference in performance. If using a compute node with Infiniband interconnects, you can transfer data at much higher speeds compared to ethernet.
To take advantage of this, you can specify an infiniband interconnect in the resource limit specification when submitting a job.
Location
Indigo storage is mounted on the cluster in the /project
directory.
The mount point of your specific storage space depends on the name requested by the owner when the space was created.
If you run ls /project
, you may not see your space listed. However, you can
still cd
into the directory if you know the name.
Palmetto uses the AutoFS mounting system, which means your space is only mounted while it is in use. Upon first access, the operating system will immediately mount your space. When not in use, it is automatically unmounted to save resources.
